A Personal Approach

about me

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hello! I'm Bernadette Broderick.
I have spent more than three decades working in complex, high-responsibility environments in Canadaโ€™s maritime and industrial sectors, where precision, accountability, and steady leadership were part of my daily life.
After a long career defined by results and structure, I found herself navigating a transition few women are prepared for: the uncharted space between professional identity and what comes next.Through that experience, I began exploring how creativity, rhythm, and making things by hand could become tools for orientation rather than escape.I too, am in this transiiton period. One of my first loves is rug hooking and I am the founder of Line & Loop/ Studio/Laine & Lignes, where I lead workshops and small gatherings that help women reconnect with creativity, community, and a sustainable pace of living. My work now focuses on helping women approach this life stage with curiosity, dignity, and self-authorship, not as an ending, but as an open passage.Navigating Life After Work is my first book.

Can we find a new word for retirement?

I am committed to helping women redefine life after work with clarity, courage, and self-authority โ€” because retirement is too small a word for the possibility, purpose, and expansion this chapter can hold.

My mission is to is to help women redefine life after work as a season of possibility, self-authority, and renewed contribution โ€” not simply retirement.Through my book, workshops, reflections, and conversations, I help women slow down, listen to themselves again, and explore what still wants to emerge.I believe this chapter is not about becoming less visible, less useful, or less ambitious. It is about choosing, with clarity and courage, what comes next on your own terms.

I want to help you transition to this next chapter.
